Frequently asked questions
Where are my documents saved?
Only in this browser on this device (IndexedDB). There is no account and nothing is uploaded. If you clear your browser data they are deleted, so export the ones you want to keep. You can see and clear what is stored on the My storage page.
Can I open a Word file?
Yes. Open a .docx and it is converted to an editable document: headings, bold and italic, lists, tables and pictures are kept. Complex page layouts, text boxes and tracked changes are not.
Can I save my document as PDF or Word?
Yes. Export gives a PDF with real, selectable text and embedded fonts, a Word .docx, Markdown, HTML or plain text. Choose A4 or Letter, margins, a look, page numbers and a table of contents.
Does it work offline?
After the page has loaded once, writing and saving work without a connection because everything runs in your browser.
Does it support Vietnamese and other languages?
Yes. Vietnamese, Cyrillic and Greek text are embedded in the PDF as text. Chinese, Japanese, Korean and emoji are drawn as small pictures in the PDF; they stay normal text in Word, Markdown and HTML.
Is there a watermark, page limit or signup?
No watermark, no page limit and no signup. Very large pictures are shrunk to 1600 px so documents stay small.
Can I edit an existing PDF here?
To change a PDF, use the PDF editor. This editor writes new documents and can open Word, Markdown, HTML and text files.
