How to use PDF to Markdown

  1. Add your PDFs

Drop one file or many. Each PDF is read on your device the moment you add it.

  2. Check the preview

Switch between the formatted preview and the raw Markdown. Headings, lists, links and tables are rebuilt from the text layout.

  3. Pick your options

"For LLMs" removes headers, footers and page numbers that repeat on every page. "Page separators" adds a line between pages.

  4. Copy or download

Copy the Markdown, or download a .md file. Several PDFs download together as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

How does PDF to Markdown work?
The tool reads the text of each page with its position, size and font. Bigger text becomes headings, bold and italic runs keep their style, bullets and numbers become lists, and rows of aligned columns become Markdown tables.
What does "For LLMs" do?
It removes lines that repeat near the top or bottom of the pages (running headers, footers, page numbers), so a chatbot or search index does not read them over and over.
Can it convert a scanned PDF?
No. A scan is a picture without a text layer, and this tool does not do OCR. You will see a notice when no text is found.
Why does a table or a multi-column page look wrong?
Tables are guessed from how text lines up, so tables with merged cells or no spacing may need a quick fix by hand. Pages with two or more text columns can come out with the columns mixed together.
Are images kept?
No. Only text, links and structure are converted. To save pages or pictures use PDF to Image.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your files never leave your device and the tool works offline once the page is loaded.
