What to do next
How to use Blur Faces
Add your photos
Drop one photo or a whole batch (up to 40). Faces are found automatically.
Check the faces
Click a frame to keep that face visible, or drag on the photo to add a box the detector missed.
Pick a style
Blur, pixelate, a black box or an emoji sticker, with your own strength and padding.
Download
Save the photo, or all photos as one ZIP. The faces are really changed in the file, not hidden behind a layer.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The face detector runs inside your browser, so your pictures never leave your device. The first time, about 10 MB of detector files are downloaded and then kept in your browser, so later runs also work offline.
Which AI model does this use?
It uses YuNet (MIT licence) from the OpenCV Zoo, run with onnxruntime-web (MIT). The model file is about 230 KB; the runtime is about 10 MB. Big photos are scanned in overlapping tiles so small faces in group pictures are found too.
Can someone undo the blur?
The picture is rewritten with the blurred pixels, so the original faces are not kept in the downloaded file. A light blur on a big face can still be guessable, so raise the strength or use the black box or emoji style when it matters.
It missed a face — what now?
Drag a box over it on the photo and it is blurred like the rest. Very small (under about 15 px), turned-away, masked or heavily shadowed faces are the usual misses, so always look the result over before you share it.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes for a few photos. Large batches of big photos are faster on a computer.
Does it lower the quality of the rest of the photo?
Only the face areas change. JPEG photos are saved again at high quality, PNG and WebP keep their format.
